How does the system know how many seats I have activated on my licence?

When you activate a seat the application contacts the central activation server and records the fact of the activation.

As well as the license number some codes are generated which identify the computer the seat is activated on. These codes are based, very indirectly via one way algorithms, on information about your computer but nothing about your computer can be reconstructed from them.

These finger prints are constructed so that they will not significantly change even if you change the hard drive and network card on your machine.

What can I do if I lose track of my seats?

If you loose track of your seats you should go to www.datawasp.com and visit the LICENSING section where you can see a list of all the seat activations you have made. The most important part of these is the comment which you entered when the seat was registered - which hopefully will allow you to identify the computer the seat was activated on. This is the reason it is so important to enter a meaningful comment when you register the seat.

What do I do if I forget the password for my account?

Go to www.datawasp.com and visit the LICENSING section where you can enter you Licence number and your password will be sent to the email address you entered when bought the license.

How do I activate Datawasp on my computer if it is not connected to the web?

The activation dialog you will be given the option to activate manually. To do this you will have to copy down an activation request code and then use it on a computer which is connected to the web. The activation dialog will give you the address of the manual activation web site or you can go to the manual activation page in the LICENSING section of www.datawasp.com. The manual activation web page will give you a return code which you will have to enter into Datawasp back at the seat which is being activated.

How do I move an activation from one machine to another?

You do not need to uninstall Datawasp from the old machine but you do need to de-activate it using the Tools>Deactivate dialog. If the old machine is connected to the web this process is instantaneous. If it is not then you will have to copy codes between the target machine and one which is connected. Follow the instructions in the deactivation dialog to do this.

After deactivation you can activate Datawasp on the new machine just the same as a normal activation.
