Optional Datawasp Server

How do I run a server for Datawasp? The Datawasp server is a separate program which can be started like any other application via the start menu. After you have started it you use the 'Browse' button to find your database files. Top

When would I want to run a Datawasp server? There are two reasons why you would use a server. If file sharing is not available over your network; or If file sharing is slow over your network; File sharing is when you can 'see' files on someone else's hard drive over a network. You would not typically share files over the internet so if you want to use Datawasp over the public internet you should use a server. Can I get the Datawasp server to start automatically? Yes this can be done by clicking the 'Autostart at logon' check box on the server interface. Top

Will the Datawasp server work over the internet? Yes it supports TCP/IP which is the internet protocol and will work just fine over the internet. This is one of the main reasons a server was provided. Top

How do I convert a database from file sharing to server based? There is no need. When you start Datawasp server you just point it at the same database files you would if it was a normal Datawasp client. In fact normal Datawasp clients can connect to the Datawasp files at the same time as a server. Do I need a different Datawasp client to connect to a Datawasp server? No the same Datawasp client can be used to connect to a database via file sharing or Datawasp server. Just use the appropriate command in the 'System' menu Top
