Comparison with a Spreadsheet

Spreadsheets are wonderful things but for managing dynamic information around an office they leave a lot to be desired.  Here is a quick list of Datawasp features which improve upon spreadsheets.

Calculations are specified per column rather than per cell so they can not be disrupted accidentally by inserting rows.  This is a big problem with spreadsheets, especially when people other than the original creator edit the data without understanding the overall structure.  

As well as the standard spreadsheet data types Datawasp cells can contain rich text, pictures, files and references to other rows.

Calculations can produce tables derived from other tables as outputs which can then be viewed as if they were 'real' tables.  In a spreadsheet data is, by and large, only visible in the place and format it was originally entered.

Behind the scenes data can be hidden to simplify the picture for users who are not concerned with how values are arrived at.  This has the added advantage that system constants are out of the reach of users who should not have access to them.

Each user can add personalized calculations, displays and virtual tables which suit their own needs but are invisible to other users.  This is a hugely powerful feature of Datawasp.
